Finishing a raw fabric edge by crocheting lace. Have you ever marvelled at the beauty of antique linens and wondered how they did it? They didn't go to Wal-Mart, buy lace and sew it on, they literally crocheted it directly into the woven fabric. This video shows you how

Sleeves part 2, making the bell shaped top of the sleeve
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.6 лет назад
To make this sleeve we need to create a bell shaped curve, that will cover to top of the shoulder. In order to do that we will need to increase some stitches and then decrease some stitches. This is a SUPER basic video showing how to actually do that.

Where can I get the pattern.
I never use patterns Beverly. I believe it was just a series of shells though, pretty simple
perchè non ci fai vedere la fine del viso?
The curve edge and line of holes for edging were done as part of pillow case kits. I have a similar unfinished one from my Grandmother. I finished the embroidery first and need to do the edge.
The way you make faces is unique.
Hey Christie, if you’ve ever been thinking about doing just needle felting videos, Now is the time, I’ve subscribed just in case you do…. 😊
So I got an unfinished wood spinning wheel. Would you suggest staining the wood or just putting wax on the wood or what do you suggest?
totally up to you. I don't think it would hinder your spinning either way. Congratulations on your new wheel!
Thank you for your videos. I just got a Komski Fantasia I’m so excited and I’ve been watching your videos learning so much. Thank you so so much.
You are so welcome!
Well that’s adorable ❤
After the boots are complete, could you add needle felted designs? I wanted to recreate a pair of boots my mom had when she was younger, but got lost over the years
It's near impossible to have needle felted designs adhere to fully felted wool. If you want to add needle felted designs you need to partially felt the wool, needle felt in the design and then finish the felting with the standard wet felting techniques. On another note. I did see a fantastic Russian technique used to make intricate designs on felted boots. The artist layed a patterned scarf on top of the prefelt and used it as a guide to needle felt the exact design of the scarf onto the boots. This is how some of those great Eastern European Felt boots are made.
Thanks for letting me know! I'll do a little more research to see if that's something I can accomplish, but I may just have to stick with plain felted boots
You have the best channel I have found. Thanks for being such a great help to me and others.
You are most welcome Susan. Thanks for the kind words
Thanks for showing us the problems that can happen along the way with plying! You never see that in videos, so you tend to think that it should all go smoothly and be easy from the start! One question that I have though-I have smaller bobbins so they fill up quickly. How do I make a continuous skein of say 200 yards? I just don’t get that part😬
to do a really large skein you need to be able to start on a jumbo bobbin. I suppose if push came to shove you could probably join the yarn using a spindle, but I've never tried it myself just because I have the jumbo bobbins
Thank you so much for these videos. I broke out my spinning wheel after a hiatus for several years and these were so helpful in filling in the gaps in my memory.
I've been taking a break too, learning to graft fruit trees and improve my gardening skills. I have found RUclips pretty useful in jogging my own memory! I once made a video on how to connect a lithium battery to my husband's cpap machine and I later found I had to go back and check my own library just to remember how I did it! Not sure if you have the tech to download videos, but you are most welcome to download anything you have here and save it for the future
How much is a roll of that leather
Oh goodness, I can't recall. I bought it a few years ago, but I believe it was under $100 for sure. I get a military discount from the leather store, so that helps. There are different grades of shoe leather. The longer it is cured the harder it is and more expensive it is. You could make so much stuff from all that lealther. It's basically one entire hide
Canning videos?! How about soap-making videos?? Victory garden type videos? Gee. That is so super-weird. But thanks for the heads-up. We couldn't figure out why you'd suddenly disappeared. I will copy the Kromski Prelude Spinning Wheel videos, for which I am very grateful!
Do you think I should rebrand the channel? When I got serious about this channel I was just trying to share as much about fiber arts as possible, but I'm a bit of a weirdo and get intensely interested in certain subjects and go all in until I feel like I've learned enough. I have wondered about adding some of the other stuff I've been up to, because I do love sharing, but none of it relates to fiber....it's all self sufficiency stuff though. Lately I'm progagating plants from cuttings and grafting fruit trees, there are already tons of videos on ye old RUclips for that though, not sure I could add to the body of knowledge....unless my experiement of grafting figs to mulberries works! If THAT works I should definately document it! (they are in the same family....so theoretically it's possible"
Thanks for making this series of Prelude videos, Christi! They are really great.
This helped a lot, thank you!
awesome!
Unfinished projects weaving, drawings, junk journals, just started felting, paintings, femo clay face. My daughter in law says I'm ocod. Loved your tutorial. Thanks, peggy

Love your organic work .I like to work the same way .I am going to have a go at yourtunick love it .
I'm a very beginner. You're jumping around too much. What size crochet thread are you using. Pls start from the beginning.
I'm using an Ashford Joy 2 and the yarn is just coiling up inside the eye it threads through rather than uptaking onto the bobbin! Can you help me understand why and help me fix that? I've tried all tension settings and pre-drafting the wool, I'm treadling slow, I just can't figure it out
Hello, can i use this leather to make high heels??
Olá... tentei perceber como explica a forma de fazer uma " forma" para o pé mas, fiquei -me na "meia"... Percebo mal inglês.. se me poder ajudar... obrigada....o som está excelente...
your sound is mono through the whole video
Great idea to use the drain board of the sink as a washboard. My stainless steel sink has hard ridges just like on a washboard. More modern ones tend to have very widely spaced channels. Glad I kept my old sink.
thanks!! I was having trouble... 1st time using my kromski prelude. couldn't get yarn to pull into spindle.
You look like a bag lady.
I keep a ton of starts because depending on my mood I might want to do something no brainer or I can pick up parts and pieces in a creative moment and throw together something awsome and I feels like no time at all.
I am so glad that you showed these problems as they are what I have had!! I am new to spinning. My Ashford Traditional wheel only cost me £25 but the treadle kept coming off so I have made a 'fix'. It can spin without problems but then if I change the bobbin it will not spin properly. Often refitting the bobbin is the solution. Watching this I realised that I need to oil it more often but probably don't need to get another wheel.
3rd
Which is strong glue for Shole
I seem to spin the 2 ply “ok”, but my problem every time is that I have one bobbin left with lots of single on it and the other bobbin is empty. =(
Looks like the 16oz veg tan I've got. Was labelled as "shield" leather hahaha, I made a couple vambraces out of it and it was a real pain to work with. The stuff is great though, those vambraces would probably stop a knife or even machete hit with how tough and thick they are.
I think I had to use a combination of a leather awl, a nail, a mallet and a wood board to punch the holes for stitching and lacing on mine. Think I soaked it for the bigger holes as well.
How did you get the inital row started through the fabric?
I watched this video and sat down and knocked out a elf head in record speed. Do you have any more videos? And if course my house is a mess!!
If you look at historic shoes they did have wooden overshoes for wet muddy places.
You should do tutorials of how you make things like this. I think you would be wonderful at it. Plus you have a nice, sweet voice. Thanks for the inspiration! I’m going to try and make something similar for my Halloween decorations this year
Great job! What did you use for the fur?
Thank you so much for being here for us newbies
Love this video and I love your fun personality!!! Thank you!!!!
do you sell kits for the boots
very helpful, thanks
Hi, so do you make custom shoes like the pink athletic shoes you show on this video?? I have trouble finding anything with a toe box deep enough to handle the custom orthotics I slip in my shoes.
You are so utterly engaging, thank you.
I have my mom's copy too!
Thanks, not easy to find tutorial on bell sleeves
